Indus River Valley Question

Most people who live in India today are Hindu.  Hindus believe in multiple gods.  Many of the Hindu gods are pictured with a symbol in the shape of a W on their forehead.  What does this symbol mean?  You must post the answer with the link to the website from which you found it.

    http://hinduism.about.com/od/artculture/a/major_hindu_symbols.htm The symbol is called om or aum it's syllable representing Braham it's the most important concept in the Hindu belief Hindus on a daily bases would chant om before working or going a journey (hope i'm right) '\-(*o*)-/'
